Maxine Francis Newton, 90, was born August 15, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Hiram McCallister and Blanche M. Martin. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael E. McAllister; two sisters, Geraldine Sawyer and Theola Cook; and an aunt, Ethel Martin.

Maxine was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri. At a young age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and served as the president of the junior usher board at her church. She was employed at the Windsor Hotel for a number years.

Maxine was united in marriage to Joseph L. Newton, Sr. on March 26, 1953. He also preceded her in death. She enjoyed modeling, dancing and reading, but above all she loved spending time with her family.

Maxine departed this life on November 7, 2017 at the home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Joseph L. Newton, Jr. (Jenny) of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Cassandra J. Leggs of Raytown, MO and Maxine R. Newton of Blue Springs, MO; one cousin, Joanne Strothers; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
