On January 4, 1949, in the town of Blytheville, Arkansas Melvin Howard came into the world as the beloved child of Leatha Johnson and Austin Howard. Making his mark in Kansas City, Missouri, Melvin dedicated himself to the construction industry, honing his craft as a cabin maker.

Melvin's memory lives on in the hearts of his dear daughter, Amber Wells of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He also leaves behind his brother, James Howard of Madison, Wisconsin, and his sisters: Joyce Davis, Johnnie Mae Chambers, both of KCMO, Verta Jean Mays of Memphis, Arkansas, and Earlene McNeil of Sarasota, Florida.
