Melvin Eugene Jones, 53, was born April 11, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roosevelt and Barbara Jones. His father preceded him in death. Melvin was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from Paseo High School class of 1981. At the age of eighteen, he joined the United States Army serving in Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Irwin, California before being deployed to Germany. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled in Concorde Career Institute where he studied computerized accounting and received both typing and 10-key endurance certificates. Melvin confessed his life in Christ and became a member of Love Fellowship Church. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor until his health began to fail. Melvin departed this life on January 11. 2017 at his home. He will be deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Barbara Jones; four brothers, Dwayne Jones, Steve Jones, Don Jones all of Kansas City, MO and Henry Jones of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Gwendolyn Jones and Juanita Jones both of Kansas City, MO and Rosie Giles of Detroit, MI; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 19, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
