Obituary

Melvin Franklin Sayers, 76, was born January 19, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Melvin and Gertrude (Kidd) Sayers. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Zachery and Mary Louise Nichols.

Melvin was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Central High School. He later served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged.

Melvin was employed with Ford Motor Company from which he retired. He was a hard worker who took pride in his job.

Melvin was a lover of sports, particularly basketball and football, and as an avid track runner he earned several medals, plaques and trophy's. Melvin loved music, cars and animals, especially birds. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found grilling or planting flowers in his yard.

Melvin passed away on September 5, 2017. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all whose life he touched.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Arlene Jackson whom he loved and shared many precious memories with; two daughters; two sisters, Jean Cherry and Willa Jones (Fred); one brother, Joseph Sayers and a host of other relatives and friends.
