Michael Carl Dacus, 69, Grandview, Missouri, passed away on January 15, 2017. He was born December 13, 1947 to Clarice and Robert Dacus, Sr., in Omaha, Nebraska. Michael was the third of seven children. He was preceded in death by both parent and siblings, Robert Dacus, Brian Dacus and Mark Dacus. Michael grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Lothrop and Howard Kennedy Elementary Schools, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from North High School. In his early years, he was part of the Elks Drum and Bugle Corp, where he was a drummer. Throughout his schooling he participated in a variety of sports. Michael and Patricia met in the seventh grade. They became close friends through the years and later married in 1967. After marriage, they moved to the Bay Area of California, and later made their way to Kansas City, Missouri where they made their home. They had one son, Jeffrey Dacus and were blessed with forty-nine years of love and support. Blessed with a natural gift of gab and an ability to connect with people, he spent most of his career in sales. He worked in direct sales, telemarketing and insurance. While selling insurance, he started his own independent insurance agency, Coverage Concepts in 1986. His love of people and connecting with others flourished, when he took his is 'retirement job', as a Starbucks barista where he worked for six years. Michael loved keeping his plate full, in addition to his business career; he coached his son's basketball team, he was an avid golfer; traveling near and far to play the game he loved so much, he had a decade long modeling and acting career as well as mentoring many people in business and life skills. His 'retirement job' at Starbucks became a dream job. While at Starbucks he was able to meet people from all over the world. Everyone he met was a friend. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Patricia; son Jeffery Dacus (Shannon) of Broomfield, CO; daughters Jenelle Hampton of Atlanta, GA, Michelle Howard (Rusty) of Dallas, TX and Melissa Joseph (James) of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren Ashleah Green, Ashley Baltrip, Xavier Faust, Alexander Dyer, Aaron Dacus Knox, DeAnthony Davis, Vincent Bursey, Ja'Mayre Joseph, James Joseph, Jr. and four great-grandchildren; siblings Cheryl Hubbard, Wesley Dacus (Lillian), Cynthia Dacus, and J.W. Dacus all of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Lonnell Samuels (Richie) of Fayetteville, NC; uncle Herman Washington, Jr. of Omaha, NE and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 4:00 p.m. at Unity Temple. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
