Harrell

Michael Edward Harrell, 68, KCMO, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Research Medical Center. He was born March 17, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Drew and Doris Juanita Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter Jonathan Williams.
As a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael was educated in the KCPS. While at Manual High School, the desire for knowledge led him to take electrical classes. He excelled in his classes gaining employment with various Electrical Companies directly out of high school.
Michael met and married Bettie Graham. To this union one son was born, Christopher Michael. They remained married for thirty-seven years.
Michael accepted Christ as his Savior and began to do good works. He was a selfless man; a fixer and caregiver to all who called upon him.
Michael was employed by Ford Motor Company as an electrician for many years. While at Ford, he enrolled at the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Maple Woods and Longview to keep the knowledge flowing. He retired in 2007.
After retirement he became engrossed in old school music. He enrolled in the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music. He became affiliated with the gospel group "Heaven Bound Travelers" and the "Tenna Shoes Diamond Blues Band". Michael also took voice lessons from Debbie Beinhorn, vocal coach and producer from Houston, Texas.
Michael loved playing dominos, listening to music, talking sports and politics. He spent hours in the garage working on and building computers. He was everyone's IT (information technology) person. Most of all he loved telling people what to do, when to do it and how to do. He was never wrong.
Michael is survived by his wife, Bettie Harrell; sons, Christopher Harrell and Diam Dowdy; granddaughter, Ms. Amiera Daniels; siblings, Karen Shepherd (Bill), Leslie Bonds (LaRue), Mitchell Harrell, William Williams (Sue) and Gregory Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends.
