Obituary

Michael LeRoy Haynes, Sr., 76, was born September 25, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas to Jeanette (Green) and Charles Haynes, Sr. He was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Charles Haynes, Jr. and Reginald Haynes; and sisters Katherine Carroll and Ardella Bell. Michael was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1957. That same following year he was united in marriage to Beverly Holmes to which three children were born: Michael Jr., Jeanette and Karen. Michael was united in marriage to Clarice Hughes in September of 1984. Michael and Clarice shared a wonderful life of traveling, especially trips with their grandchildren. He retired from General Motors after 30+ years. Elder Haynes was a faithful Servant of Christian Fellowship, regularly attending Sunday morning worship, Wednesday Bible Study, Spiritual Growth classes, completed Discipleship classes, served on the Elder's Board, director of the Usher Board, director of the Couples Ministry and willing to serve wherever there was a need. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Clarice (Hughes) Haynes; sons, Michael Haynes, Jr. (Regina) of Syracuse, NY, Stanley Archie (Evelyn), Stewart Archie, Stephen Archie (Imani), and Londro Patterson (Ebony) all of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Jeanette Green (Michael Sr.) of Kansas City, KS, Karen Lenore (Darryl) Yorba of Linda, CA and Stephanie Archie, Kansas City, MO; brother, Herbert Haynes (Frankie) of San Bruno, CA; sisters Alice Thomas of Washington, D.C., Virginia Hill of Kansas City, MO and Linda Haynes of Oakland, CA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, January 30, 11:00 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
