Michael C.
Newton
Dec 8, 1948 — Jul 6, 2017
Michael Charles Newton, 68, was born December 8, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to William C. 'W.C.' Newton and Mary Ann (Flanagan) Newton. He was preceded in death by his father, W.C.; both paternal and maternal grandparents; a daughter, Staci Collins; an uncle, Robert 'Bud' Flanagan and many aunts, cousins and close friends. Michael was a lifelong area resident, attending the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri, namely Benjamin Banneker Elementary and Manual High School. Although Michael did not enlist in the regular armed forces, it brought him great joy to be a Reservist in the Marines Corps. He completed basic training at Camp Pendleton, California and was delighted at the opportunity to return on those years that he could for the two weeks of active duty training. Michael held numerous positions throughout the Kansas City area. New York Bakery and Keller Foods to name a few, but retired after working for over 25 years from the City of Kansas City, Aviation department and Airport Security. Michael married only once, and this union developed into a lifelong friendship and 'love affair' until his passing. He married Frances Schultz Green in 1978. He had but one biological child, but he gained and raised through this union, three daughters; Staci Lynne, Monica Charisse and Tiffany Danielle. Michael's past-times involved playing basketball, enjoying old school music, an occasional beer, watching television (particularly the history channel), night visits to a Wal-Mart with his great grandson T.J., and lastly a meal at any local Applebee's. Michael did not attend church services regularly but he DID have a belief in God. Michael leaves to forever cherish his memory: a loving family that includes his only son, Michael (Kakasha); two daughters, Monica (Raymond) and Tiffany; three sisters, Ruth Anne Beard of Winnetka, CA, Marie Tripp of the city; and Alecia Hudson of Duluth, GA; his mother, Mary Ann Newton of Duluth, GA; his former wife and close friend, Frances Newton; 10 grandchildren, Terrance, Mario, Shantell, Brittney, Dominique, Brooke, Malik, LaMisha, Brooke, Louis and Aspen; 5 great grandchildren, T.J., Tremaine, Levi, Terionna, and Syaire; special friends, Allen Jackson and Machelle Jones; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 12, 7:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
