Obituary

Michael Taylor went peacefully with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at home, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother Wilma Taylor, father Mack Taylor, Aunt Bobbie Ruth Watts, Aunt Baby Ruth France, Uncle Johnny Saulsberry, and Uncle Thomas "Duke" Saulsberry.

Michael Reimund Taylor was born to Mack and Wilma Taylor February 23, 1954 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was the oldest of seven siblings. He grew up at Fort Campbell, Kentucky military base where his father, Mack Taylor was mainly stationed. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the 1960s.

He attended Southeast High School and was involved in ROTC and drum corp. After high school, he attended Longview Community College and Penn Valley Community college. After some time in college, he found his love of music.

He pursued his music with the band Mass Transit for which he wrote jazz and heavy funk music and performed all over the country at Colleges and nightclubs. Due to unfortunate circumstances the Mass Transit Band was terminated; although it did not cease his love for writing music.

Michael's other hobbies included playing tennis, going to the movies, watching sports; along with playing the guitar and the keyboard. He dedicated his life to Christ as a teenager and became an ordained minister in 2002. He was united in marriage to his wife, Wanda, in October 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He worked at Geico Courier for 7 years and retired from Rob Sight Ford in 2020 after 8 years. He touched the lives of many with his many inspirational conversations and being the voice of reason.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Wanda Laden-Taylor; three kids, son Meguial Taylor (Richshaunda Taylor), daughter Shanika Taylor-Fields (Willie Jr), and son Christopher Laden (Channel), and mother to his first two children, Sheila Taylor. 15 grandchildren, Isaac (18), Willie III (18), Evan (17), Meguial Jr "Mega" (15), Giovanny "Gigi" (14), A'Mya "Mya" (12), Christopher Jr (10), Willie IV "D" (10), Zoiee (8), Chyane (6), Messiah "Mack" (5), Christian (4), ChRya (3), Majesty "Sty" (2), and Major (1). One Sister Benita, and 5 Brothers Byron, Bernard , Shawn, Christopher, and Preskuf; Uncle Charles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and fellow musicians.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Greater St. Matthews Church. Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19 masks are required. Services provided by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared at the website.
