That determination became one of the defining qualities of his life and helped shape the man his family and friends came to know and respect.

Yet behind that strength was a man with an unmistakable personality. Michael was funny, witty, and naturally entertaining. He could make people laugh with a quick remark, an unexpected observation, or simply his way of telling a story. Those who knew him understood that Michael had his own way of saying things, and his humor often made even ordinary moments memorable.

He was also a genuinely nice man who cared deeply for the people in his life. Above everything else, Michael loved his family.
