Obituary

Mildred L. Demoretz was born June 14, 1934, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the union of Henry and Juanita Ward.

She was educated in the public schools of Purvis, Mississippi where she graduated from Purvis High School. She received her nursing degree in 1964 and worked for Dr. JM Kaplin in Chicago, Illinois for 10 years. Later, during her nursing career, she moved to California, where she worked for the Orange County Medical Center. Mildred retired from Orange County in 1986 and later began working for the Orange County school district. In 1994, Mildred retired for good and moved with her family to Kansas City, Missouri.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at her family's church, where she was a devoted member until she and her family moved to Chicago. Mildred lived in many states where she continued to serve the lord. She eventually landed in Kansas City, where she was a faithful member of the Church of Kansas City, where she served until her death.

Mildred loved her family, and at every chance she got, she would make sure that her family knew how important the love of God was. She was a well-traveled woman who had traveled to many lands to spread the words and love of the Lord. Another passion of hers was making quilts. She would make quilts for anyone who wanted one.

Mildred married Robert L Batton Sr. in 1951, to which four sons were born. She would later have three more sons to add to her family. She later was married to Edward Demoretz on July 21, 1984, he preceded her in death in 1987.
