Millard C. McGlothen Sr. was born on November 1, 1934 to Wesley McGlothen and Carrie Gilkey McGlothen Ferguson in Grove, Louisiana. He attended schools in Minden, Louisiana where he resided with his grandparents, Bailey and Lela McGlothen. Millard departed his earthly life to be with Jesus on August 27, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, Nolan and Pearl Gilkey; his sister, Ossie Normsworthy; granddaughters Tamara Gines and Kim Winfield; and great-granddaughter Kiera Paige. Millard moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1952 and on June 9, 1954 married Patsy R. Scott. He was employed by Putsch's Cafeteria as a chef for 43 years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid fisherman winning the State of Missouri Bassin Big Bass Championship in 2000, where he was allotted the opportunity to compete against other state champions for The Big Bass World Championship Title. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, later uniting with Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of William F. Snorgrass in 1997. Using his culinary expertise, he found pleasure preparing dinners for numerous family and church events until his health no longer afforded him the opportunity. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of sixty-four years, Patsy McGlothen of Kansas City, MO; his children Carolyn McGlothen, Millard McGlothen Jr. (Jacqueline), Kimberly King (Tim), Trisha Johnson (Howard), Gwen McGuire, Derrick Winfield all of Kansas City, MO and Brandon Winfield of Newton, KS; four brothers, Regis McGlothen of Kansas City, MO, Jerry Ferguson (Mary) of Missouri City, TX, Perry Ferguson (Christine) of San Diego, CA and Herman Ferguson of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Onnie Moton of San Diego, CA; sister-in-laws, Myrtle Bailey of Kansas City, MO and Shirley Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
