Minister John D. Thomas was born on September 6, to Palefa Life in Batesville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by Palefa Life (mother), father, Johnny L. Thomas (son), John L. Thomas (son), Terrace Preston (grandson).

John was educated in the public school system in Batesville, Mississippi. Later in life, John lived in St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL, Wilson, Arkansas, and moved to Kansas City, MO with his loved ones. While living in Kansas City, he worked hard as a custodial worker with the Kansas City School District for over 15 years.

Later in life, he studied at Chain Link Spiritual Temple of Christ and received his ministerial license and retired as a Preacher.

He was a caring person that would give his last to help anyone that needed his help. He loved to preach to everyone who he met in passing. Hello Somebody! He also loved to dance, sing, ride his bike, walk, and stayed physically fit since he always said he was 16!

He leaves to cherish his memories: ex-wives; Luella Washington, Rebecca Thomas, male children: Timothy Thomas (Arlica), Gilbert Thomas, female children: Sheila Gray, Akilah Pulluaim, Little R. Thomas-Wren (Alexander), Rochelle Thomas, Barbara Rowland (Richard), and a host of other grandchildren, stepchildren, children, and family & friends.

Funeral services Saturday, July 18, 2020, 3:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Cemetery. Visitation 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the chapel. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic and the City Ordinance guest are required to wear mask.
