Obituary

Morris Stroud, Jr., 70, KCMO, passed away on October 17, 2016 at his home. He was born May 17, 1946 in Miami, Florida to Morris Stroud, Sr. and Gracie Mae Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; his only son, Morris Stroud III; a brother, Albert Stroud and his only sister, Annie Grace Owens. Morris was educated in the public schools of Griffin, Georgia and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1964. He continued his education at Clark Atlanta University. In 1969, he was drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs where he played for six years and won the Super Bowl Championship IV. Morris later supervised at Harold Pener's Clothing Store for twenty-seven years, before retiring in 2013. Morris married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Ponder in 1977, sharing thirty-nine years of marriage. He enjoyed relaxing at home with his family and the entertainment of his only great grandchild, 'Bucket Head'. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dorothy Stroud; daughter, Kimberly Stroud; two brothers, Charles Stroud and John Lee Stroud; five grandchildren, Shawn, Jamaal, Jordan, Ariana and Jestiny; one great grandchild, Travis Jr.; special cousin, Maurice Glover; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 23, 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
