Obituary

Mozella Hall Edwards, 77, was born August 12, 1941 in Shelby, Mississippi to John Hall and Laura Edwards.

In 1943 the family moved to Chicago, Illinois and in that same year they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she resided her entire life. Mozella was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri and attended Manual High School.

Mozella was a faithful beloved member of Emmanuel Church for fifty-four years, under the leadership of Bishop W.H. White, Sr. and currently Pastor R.L. White, Sr. She loved her pastor dearly as well as her brothers and sisters of the Emmanuel Church family. They looked out for and took wonderful care of her.

Mozella retired from Southwestern Bell, later renamed AT&T, after twenty-nine years of service. She made many close friends over the years and will be missed by her former coworkers.

Affectionately known as "Mo" by her friends and "Grams" by her family, she opened her home to all. She enjoyed cooking chops and fried chicken, as a matter of fact she could and would eat chicken every day. She also made a mean pound cake and banana pudding. Mostly she loved to sing and had been singing since the age of three years old. She would always listen to the radio, and if you could name it she could sing it. She never passed up an opportunity to sing as she has directed and sang in various choirs at Emmanuel and abroad. She has also sung at hundreds of funerals. She especially enjoyed singing with her friends at Sycamore Groves and St. Mark Baptist Church.

Mozella was a very soft spoken person who rarely raised her voice except to sing. Even though she was soft spoken everybody knew "Mo" didn't play. She was the absolute hands down best mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mozella departed this life April 12, 2019, at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hall; step-father, Herman Graham; mother, Laura Graham; brother, Eddie L. Edwards; uncles, Leon Edwards and Eddie Herman; and her beloved Shih-Pooh Sassi (of sixteen years).

She leaves behind one son, Eddie D. Hall of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Victoria L. Edwards of Independence, MO; one sister, Maxine J. Edwards; favorite cousins, Fredricka, Gloria, and Victoria; thirteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
