Obituary

In the stillness of the early morning on Wednesday, October 11th, with family at his bedside, our heavenly Father dispatched an angel from upon high who came and whispered in Myron's ear, "Come to me and I will give you rest".

Myron Hershal Cruse, 80, was born February 10, 1937 in Sparks, Kansas to Isaac Len Cruse and Fanny Lee (Hammond) Cruse. He went to grade school in Sparks and White Cloud Kansas. In 1951 the family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri where he graduated from Lafayette High School, June 2nd, 1955. He then went on to St. Joseph Jr. College for 2 years. Myron met his wife Wanda in 1957 and they were married in 1958. Myron started working for Armour & Company in the meat packing industry in 1958. He made hot dogs and sausages that were never his favorite to be on the menu at home to eat. In 1973, he transferred to the Armour's plant in Martin City, Missouri. He drove from St. Joseph to Kansas City and returned home daily. Myron missed no more than 2 days due to inclement weather, snow and ice, I-29 was shut down. He received special recognition many times for his excellent work attendance. In the summer of 1977 the family, his wife and 3 daughters, moved to Grandview, Missouri. Myron retired from Armours in 1999.

Myron had a cool, laid back personality. He was a strong, well rounded, hard working, good man with a gentle soul and would always smile. He was kind and loving to everyone. Myron loved to fish and work on cars. His hobby was carpentry and he would build things, bookshelves, cases, and consoles. If a piece of furniture was no longer of good use and ready to be put out for disposal, he would break it down and build it into something else. When the sounds of sawing and hammering came from his man cave, we knew he was creating something. Myron was a great handyman. He was also a very good bowler, enjoyed playing spades or bid whist and was tough to beat. He enjoyed watching westerns, scary movies and would flip back and forth between news channels. Myron was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

Left to cherish Myron's memory is his wife, Wanda Cruse; daughters Rhonda Cruse, Nancy Cruse and Mila Black (Ronald); grandsons Louis Cruse and Nicholas Cruse; granddaughters Katrina Cruse and Monica Cruse; great granddaughter Melanie Davis; siblings Louis Cruse, Virgil Cruse, Norma Shane, Pricilla Kirby and June Gaskins; and a host of several nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Myron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters Arvin Lee Cruse, Rick Cruse, Barney Cruse, Louise Brewer, and Berniece Shane.
