Nellie
Re'Voal
May 14, 1927 — Oct 15, 2022
Nellie Venita Huff Re'Voal was born in Idabel, Oklahoma to William M. Huff and Mahalia Kirk Huff on May 14, 1927, the second of five children. Times were challenging during those years, but her family was very close and all of them cared for each other.
When the war started in 1941, many farming families began moving to the cities as the men were called to war. Nellie's
parents moved the family to Oklahoma City, where they found work and enrolled the children in school. Nellie graduated from
Frederick A. Douglass High School in 1944, and then travelled to Tacoma, Washington where with the help of her aunt, she got
a job working at Todd's Shipyard. She spent the next three years working on the assembly line, until the job ended for women
and girls. Nellie returned to Oklahoma City to be with her parents, who both passed shortly after.
Upon moving to Kansas City, Missouri years later, Nellie met and married Nathaniel Russell Re'Voal. Together they raised seven children. Her husband and two children Junius Re'Voal and Lujean Harmon King preceeded her in death.
Nellie retired from Hallmark Cards, where she worked for over 25 years.
Nellie was a special lady, always willing to serve when she saw or felt the need. Her children, grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and family were the joy of her life. She loved having them over and especially home for the holidays—
even as her "home" relocated.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Sharon Singleton, Natalie McArthur (Sandy), Natasha Turner (Loren); two sons, Wali Mutazammil, Marvin Re'Voal (Darby); one sister, Lois Brown; one brother, Cleveland Huff (Joan), eighteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
