Obituary

Odis Woolridge, or as he was affectionately known by his siblings, "Dough Boy" was born on April 6, 1936, to the late Daniel Woolridge and Macy Ransom. both of Hallsville, Texas. Later on in life, his family members started calling him "Pops" After a long and faithful life of service to others, Odis went home at the blessed age of 86 on Tuesday August 2, 2022. He is preceded in death and welcomed home by his parents, Daniel Woolridge and Macy Ransom-Woolridge, three brothers, Emzie, Howard, and Willie, two sisters, Irene and Faye. Odis lived a long and joyous life. He attended Galilee High School located in Hallsville, TX. Later, he received his GED and went on to attend Wiley College in Marshall, TX where he was taught the trade of Carpentry. He served his country honorable in the United States Army. While serving in the US Army, he was called to defend this nation during the Korean War. When his Tour of Duty was over, he was honorable discharged. Pops was no stranger to hard work and he labored at two General Motors Assembly Plants as an Auto Assembler. He worked for both, Leeds' General Motors Assembly Plant located in Kansas City, Missouri and the Shreveport Assembly Plant located in Shreveport, Louisiana retiring from GM after 36 years of dedicated service in 2006. Pops married Calvina Bland-Woolridge on November 14, 1998 and decided to make Kansas City home. Pops took pride in keeping and maintaining his yard and shrubbery winning "Yard of the Month" several times in his neighborhood. He was a life-long sports' enthusiast with a great affection for the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also followed the sport of Golf with his favorite player being Tiger Woods. Pops accepted Christ at a young age attending the Mason Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Odis Woolridge leaves to cherish his memory. His loving wife, Calvina Woolridge of Kansas City MO, his sister, Annie Jewell, of Michigan, two brothers, Freeman and Bruce of Texas, his daughters, Phyliss Ann Woolridge-Dawson, Priscilla-Cook, Bridget Woolridge, His son, Alonzo and wife Cynthia Woolridge, his grandchildren, Staniscia Woolridge-Holmes, Steven D. Cook, and Adrian R. Woolridge, Michael Woolridge, Samuel Owens, Jody Owens, Leah Owens, Eneshia Woolridge, Etevon Woolridge, and Ebreonta Woolridge, his step-daughters, Lisa Bland, Akena Bland, Cheryka Suber, and one step-son, Lavonne King, Jr., his step-grandchildren, Cynthia N. Armstrong, Tiffany Armstrong, Charnaye' Bland, DeWayne Gray, Anthony Slayden, Angel King, and a host of other relatives and friends. and a host of other relatives and friends.
