Otis Myrick, departed this life on January 19, 2025, to his eternal home with our heavenly father. Born in Mississippi to Sam and Inell Myrick, Otis had a loving childhood and later in life moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he became a respected entrepreneur and a cherished member of his community.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Inell Myrick, and his siblings: Lillie Hollins, Ginnie Tripp, Johnnie, Sam Jr., Ollie, Robert, and Willie Lee Myrick. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his son Tyrone (Tanya) Myrick, daughter Audrey Glenn, and brothers Frank, Willie, L.C., and Charlie Myrick. He was a proud grandfather to Jalen Myrick, Terron Glenn, and Christian Glenn, and a beloved uncle to nephews Bobby (Dawn) Tripp and Lafayette Tripp.
Otis was a multifaceted man with a passion for life. After working at General Motors, he pursued his dream of becoming a barber by attending barber school. His journey led him to meet and marry Yvonne M. Perkins, with whom he welcomed two wonderful children, Tyrone and Audrey.
A true sports enthusiast, Otis found joy in watching football, especially cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. He had a flair for cooking, often delighting family and friends with his famous barbecued ribs grilled to perfection in the backyard. His green thumb was evident in his love for gardening, where he cultivated tomatoes and greens, taking immense pride in the beauty of his lawn. His dedication to maintaining an immaculate yard inspired him to start a lawn care business that brought him joy and satisfaction. He found much comfort in the pleasantries and solitude of home.
