Pamela Rachelle
Moss
Oct 26, 1961 — Nov 6, 2020
Pamela "Pam" Moss, age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 6, 2020 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Her devoted husband, James, was right by her side on the last step of their journey together. Pam was born October 26, 1961, in Kansas City, MO to Kenneth W. Micks and Earnestine (Hervey) Zollar. Because she was the last child, she grew up surrounded by older brothers and sisters who were extra affectionate and protective toward her as the "baby" of the family. Pam obeyed the gospel at a young age and was baptized at the Swope Parkway Church of Christ. She was blessed with the gift of a beautiful alto voice and sang with the acapella group, "Just Us". One of her favorite hymns was "City Beyond The Blue."
In 1979, Pam graduated from Westport High School. As a young woman, she was known for being rather quiet and shy. But when Pam and James first met each other, she obviously ignited a spark in him because he pursued her shortly after that meeting. They soon fell in love and were married on June 13, 1987. Pam was truly an amazing wife, mom, and homemaker for her husband and their three sons. She had a talent and passion for sewing, decorating and crafting (making jewelry and decorative fans) and was an excellent cook (but she actually hated cooking), so every meal was a true labor of love for her family. Pam also adored her sons and was deeply committed to their education and extracurricular activities during their school-age years, often volunteering in their classrooms and on field trips. Then, after her sons were grown and out of the home, she was able to devote more of her time to the church, through her involvement with the Benevolence and Small Group ministries, as well as the sick and shut-in visitation group.
In addition to her love for ministry, Pam loved traveling and was able to go on several wonderful cruises with her husband and her sisters. She also loved traveling with the senior saints on the annual senior bus trips. Some of her other favorite pastimes were reading the Bible and romance novels (mostly the rated G kind), watching HGTV home shows to get ideas for her own home décor, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals, and spending time with her very close-knit and loving family. What some people may not know is that Pam also had this undercover playful side, which she would show once she got comfortable enough with you, revealing a keen and sometimes irreverent sense of humor that was often surprising and very fun to witness. Moreover, Pam was always ready with a kind word, a generous hug, and an infectious smile to encourage anyone who needed it. Even during the final stages of her life's journey, she continued to be a model of gentleness, goodness, and grace to her family and friends. Her legacy of positivity and joy will live on for all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth W. Micks, and a brother, Eldridge Berry Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, James; three sons, James, Wendell, and Courtney; mother, Earnestine Zollar; siblings, Carl H. Zollar, Gladys M. Jones (Glen L.), Debra D. Porchia (Harry Lee), Alice L. Zollar, Juan A. Zollar (Debbie Sawyer), Yolanda Guidry (Larry); goddaughter, Daria Gainey; and special friends, Freddie Cohens, Glory Davidson, Gwen Turner, Kim Gainey, Sharon Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
