Obituary

Pastor Willie Lee Wilson, 69, Sugar Creek, Missouri, was born May 4, 1947 to the union of Woodrow and Rose (Morgan) Wilson in Chatawa, Mississippi. His parents; son, Gerald Wilson and a brother, Perry Wilson along with several half brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Willie was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri public schools and furthered his education at the University of Kansas. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and soon after a tour, he received a call from the Lord to begin working in the ministry. Willie later attended Andrew University, where he received his degree in Theology. Pastor Wilson served faithfully in the Seventh Day Adventist church and pastored in many local congregations of Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. He truly loved preaching the gospel and winning souls for Christ. His second love was for education. He was a great educator and instructor, and a well respected teacher for the local church's school as well as for the KCMO School District until he retired. Willie united in marriage to the former Ms. Lorna Bacsarsa, a beautiful young lady from the Philippines 'hand-picked' by Pastor Wilson himself. God blessed their union to be filled with nothing but joy and happiness. He was a loving husband, father and brother will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the home surrounded by family and friends. He leaves to cherish her memory: his loving wife, Lorna Wilson; sons, Chris M. Davis Wilson & Jeffrey Wilson; daughter, Lorlisha Wilson; five brothers, John Trigg, of KCMO, Leon Todd and Robert Morgan both of Alabama, Jimmy Todd of Wichita, KS and David Morgan of Topeka, KS; three sisters, Mary Ann Plekio of California, Erma Carter, Wichita, KS, and Ruby Todd, granddaughter, Kiara A. Davis; a host of other relatives, church family and many friends. Funeral services will be Friday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at New Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors and on Friday, July 29, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
