Obituary

Patricia Pearl Avery Cobb was born to Stoestle and Ruth Josephine (Sypes) Avery on a hot Friday morning, July 13, 1946, in Windsor, MO. To this union she was the second child of eight. Preceding Patricia in death were her spouse, Lonnie Cobb; parents Stoestle and Ruth; and brothers Michael Jo and David (Vivian), both deceased.

Patricia attended Pleasant View Elementary and Calhoun High School in Calhoun, MO. She graduated from Penn Valley Community College with an AA in Nursing and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources with an emphasis in Management from Webster University. She later studied toward a master's degree for one year.

She migrated to Kansas City in 1966 to begin her employment years. She worked at Research Hospital for 12 years, Western Electric, later known as AT&T, for 18 years, and later at Ford Motor Company as an Occupational Health Nurse.

Patricia united with Zion Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.L. Johnson Sr. Later in life she united with First Baptist Church Blue Springs, located in Independence, MO, under the leadership of Pastor Randall Stotts. She was actively involved with Special People, Sunday School, Keenagers, Britton and Martin Life Group, and later Barnes, Barron & Williams Life Group.

Patricia was a life member of VFW Auxiliary 1829, Kansas City, MO. She volunteered through Shepherd Center with seniors in a program known as Breaktime at Metropolitan Baptist Church from 2003 until COVID 19 occurred.

She enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers, reading, traveling, and being with family.

Patricia was united in marriage to Lonnie H. Cobb on November 27, 1982, and cherished him as a God given soulmate for 38 1/2 years. Lonnie departed this life on August 8, 2021.

Patricia laid down her earthly body and picked up her heavenly robe on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

She leaves behind her sister, Elaine Shockley of Clinton, MO; brothers Felton & Lois Avery of Grandview, MO, Larry Avery of Inglewood, California, John & Vivian Avery of Olathe, KS, and Dale & Laura Avery of Bloomington, Illinois.

Extended family includes Nedra Carney, Betty Whitcomb, and Carylon Harrison, along with her Life Group and church family.
