Patricia E. Smith was born on May 12, 1945 to the union of Ruth and Nathaniel Cason in KCMO, the 5th of 9 children. Patricia received her call from the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Nathaniel Cason, son Charles Smith, grandson Earl Dunn, Sr., and brother Nathaniel Cason.
As lifelong member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, she received Christ at an early age. This empowerment led to Patricia holding various positions in her church; President of Pastor Parish, Membership Secretary, member of Gospel Choir, Vacation Bible School Teacher, active member of BMCR and as Secretary of SAUMC's UMW.
Patricia attended school in the Kansas City School District; Wendell Phillips, Lincoln Junior High, Manual Vocation Tech and Avila College.
Patricia started her government career at the Post Office on Pershing Rd, then on to The Internal Revenue Service, The Department of Agriculture; retiring as a Benefit Authorizer of the Social Security Administration in Kansas City, Missouri.
Patricia was an avid reader, bible scholar and poet. She loved to spend time with family and friends, and Saturday shopping with her two granddaughters because she had unlimited access to her loving husband's wallet.
Patricia's memories will be cherished forever by her husband of 53 years Charles; sons Brenton Smith, Keith Smith and Charles Howell Smith; daughters Michelle Smith and Deidre Smith; siblings Shirley Beavers, Janice Smith, William "Billy" Cason (Bernice), Charles Cason (Artoria), Sylvia Cason-Brown (Dawn), Randy Cason (Linda) and Lee Cason; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Charlene Cason; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special daughter, Robin Brown, special son, Walter Ramsey.
Funeral services Saturday, March 17, 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Private disposition. Visitation 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.Visits: 0
