Obituary

Paul Ellis Truss, 51, was born May 15, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri; he was the sixth child born to Bob and Mary L. Truss. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Truss; sister, Dyanna Truss-Powell; nephew, Joe Powell, Jr; and brother, Robert Terry Truss, Jr.

Paul was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools and attended Westport High School where he played football and graduated with the Senior Class of 1984.

As a child, Paul attended Bethel Pentecostal Church in Kansas City, Kansas under the pastorate of the late Pastor Rosie Summers; and was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost. He later attended Bethel House of Prayer for All People Pentecostal Church in Kansas City, Missouri under the pastorate of his mother, Pastor Mary L. Truss and after her retire, his brother, Pastor Robert T. Truss, Jr. and current Pastor, Chrystal Truss. Paul served faithfully in several positions under each administration including Janitor, Bus Driver, Drummer, Head Deacon, Young People's President, Assistant Choir President and Audio Visual/Sound Man. He loved music, singing and working for the Lord. Some of his favorite past-times were singing with the gospel group Time Check, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs together with his oldest sister Harolyn even though they were 1,000 miles apart.

Paul married Chantille Casey in 1992 and together they shared a lifetime of memories and love with their blended family of three boys, Paul, Casey and Isaiah and daughter, Aisha.

Paul was employed with the Kansas City, Missouri School District, Spofford Children's Home, Ozanam Home for Boys and most recently, Crittenton Children's Center. Paul enjoyed working with children, and many of the residents loved him dearly. Paul was affectionately called "PamPaw" by his grandchildren, a name that was passed down from his father, Bob Truss. Paul loved his family and entertaining. He would often host family gatherings at his home and was always the "life" of the party! He loved to laugh and made everyone he encountered smile. Paul will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul departed this life on April 20, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Paul Ellis Truss, Jr. (Donielle) of Kansas City, MO, Aisha J. Williams (James) of North Kansas City, MO, Casey Ellis, and Isaiah Ellis of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Jaylen LeRon, Majour Ellis, Ace Ellis, Carson Dewayne Ellis, Carter Lee Ellis, Alyse Janae and Autumn Chanel Elise; his loving mother, Emeritus Pastor Mary L.
