Paulina Gray, 87, was born May 15, 1930 to the union of Paul A. and Addie Gray. Both parents preceded her in death, as well as well as her only brother, Arthur Kemp Jr; eldest sister, Oretha Spencer; grandson, Carl Gray Jr. and beloved granddaughter, Ebony Gravely. Paulina had her upbringing in the greater Kansas City area. She attended Wendell Phillips and Booker T. Washington Elementary Schools, R.T. Coles and graduated from Lincoln High School. As she entered the work force Paulina worked in the food industry as a nurse's aide, and a day worker for former Kansas City editor, Joe McGuff and many others. Most will remember her as a tender-hearted care giver to children, grandchildren, as well as family friends, their children and any other children that passed through 44th and Norton. Paulina confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Paradise Baptist Church family under the pastorage of the late Rev. I.V. McKenzie, and now the Rev. Michael C. Phillips, shepherds the people of God. She was an avid member of the church serving on the Mother Board and the Mission. She happily departed this life on Sunday November 19, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Margaret Fell; four sons, Richard E. Gray, Paul A. Gray (Mary), Kenneth D. Gray and Carl F. Gray (Kathy); two daughters, Edwina L. Gray and Anita L. Smith (Percy) all of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends. Memorial services Monday, November 27, 11:00 a.m. at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
