Obituary

It probably was a warm sunny day on January 5th that this special child was born into the family of the late James Allen and Annie Mae Harbin (Allen). Both parents, one brother, L.C. Allen and two grandsons, Alex and Jerome preceded her in death. Pearl would be the 3rd child born to this union. She was adored, certainly loved and for surely spoiled by her two brothers Percy and L.C.

After living in Mississippi the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where Pearl grew up and attended school. She met the love of her life L.C. Hawkins, the two married and from there they moved to Kansas City, Missouri to begin their life together. God blessed them with five amazing children: Joella, Brenda, Lawrence, Paul and Larry. Pearl was blessed to be married to Mr. L.C. Hawkins for 70+ years!!!

Pearl was baptized into Christ at an early age. She was an active, faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Jesse Frazier, where she served as president of the Beautification Committee. Pearl initiated the reconstruction of Pastor Frazier's Office. Each year Pearl would decorate the church for Christmas. When new deaconess' and minsters wives joined the church, Pearl would train them on how to set the communion table. She would assist with Baptism as well. Pastor Frazier would always refer to her as "The Pearl of Great Price" Matthews 13:45-46.

Pearl was a homemaker and loved to cook especially around the holidays. Everyone looked forward to her holiday meals especially greens, sweet potatoes, turkey and dressing. People really enjoyed her peach cobbler, chocolate cakes and sweet potato pies. Pearl loved her plants and flowers. If you wanted to see a smile on her face, bring a plant to the house. Pearl's children always said, "There's no Mother like the one we got!". Pearl was most definitely known to be a DIVA. From her walk to her style of fashion, Pearl knew she had it going on!

Pearl leaves the love of her life, Mr. L.C Hawkins; five children, Joella Bell, Brenda Davis, Lawrence Hawkins, Paul Hawkins and Larry Hawkins; one brother, Percy Allen Nichols; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and don't forget her church family and friends. Pearl was truly loved and will be missed by everyone!!!
