Pedenia Yvonne
Evans
Dec 13, 1963 — Jul 10, 2025
Ms. Pedenia Yvonne Evans, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025.
Born on December 13, 1963, she was the firstborn of six children to the late Willie Evans Jr and
Ola Palmer-Evans. As the eldest sibling, Pedenia took her role to heart—she was not only a sister
but a pillar, protector, and second mother to many.
Affectionately known as the "Auntie-Mom," Pedenia lovingly raised and guided nine of her
nieces and nephews: Provector Evans Jr. (Jim), Clarissa Harris (CJ), Vanessa Cole (Shay), Chloe
Cole (Coko), Shawnacee Evans (Shona), Matthew Evans, Kareemah Evans, and Kareem Evans.
She also played a special role in raising her great-nephew Jayden Evans, Jim's son. Through her
steady hand and devoted heart, she homeschooled and graduated many of them, leaving a legacy
of education, discipline, and unconditional love.
Pedenia was a proud graduate of Southeast High School, Class of 1982. She went on to earn her
bachelor's degree from Park University and her master's from Webster University. A dedicated
professional, she gave 38 years of service to Blue Cross and Blue Shield, retiring in 2023.
She was known for being bossy—in the best way possible. Pedenia made sure things got done.
Her strength, structure, and fierce loyalty held her family together, and her heart was as big as
her voice. She was the one you called when you needed a ride, a reality check, or a warm place
to stay.
She shared a deeply close bond with her mother, Ola, with whom she shared a home and years of
caregiving, companionship, and laughter. Her final adventure was a joyful cruise to Mexico in
2024, a reflection of her love for travel and her zest for life.
Pedenia is preceded in death by her father, Willie Evans Jr., and her beloved brothers Dyron
Evans and Willie Evans III. She is survived by her mother, Ola Evans, her siblings Provector
Evans Sr. (Shelia) of Minnesota, Sonja Hayes (Robert Hayes) of Kansas City, and Byron Evans
also of Kansas City, and her treasured nieces and nephews: Nikki, CJ, Jim, Shay, Turquoise,
Devin, Coko, Brandon, Malcolm, Myles, Shona, Matthew, Hosea, Kareemah, Kareem, and
Chylen, as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pedenia also cherished the friendships she built over the years—especially her friends from work
and close family friends. She cared for them deeply, offering the same love, honesty, and support
she gave to her family. Whether sharing laughs, giving advice, or just being there when it
mattered most, Pedenia's presence was a gift to everyone lucky enough to call her a friend.
She was the glue that held generations together, the voice that called everyone to order, and the
heart that beat for her family. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever.
