Obituary

Phillip Barner, Sr., 71, KCMO, was born January 10, 1946 in Glendora, Mississippi to the union of Arthel and Clara Barner. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charlie L. Barner; two sisters, Lovie Mae Cobbins and Emma Barner; one son, John Frison, Jr.; two nieces, Teresa Hamilton and Giovanna Barner; and one great nephew, Robert Bates III.

Phillip accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Powell Chapel Baptist Church in Glendora, Mississippi, which began his strong walk of faith.

Phillip graduated from West District High School in Sumner, Mississippi in 1964. After graduating he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and began his work experience with Simpson and O'Malley Construction Company. Later was hired by CertainTeed Corporation from which he retired after thirty-eight years of service.

Phillip married Arthur Mae Strickland and to that union three children were born. He later reunited with his childhood sweetheart Dorothy Frison, in which he gained three sons.

Phillip lived a full life that he devoted unselfishly to his family and friends. He loved bowling, fishing, traveling, playing cards and dominoes, and was the family champion of WII bowling and WII golf. He also enjoyed meeting his friends at Jimmy's and the Green Duck Lounge several times during the week for years, where he earned the nickname, "Big Daddy".

After a brief illness he departed this life on November 9, 2017 with his soulmate, daughter and loving family members by his side.
