Queen Esther Taliferro, 95, was born July 20, 1921 in Brownsville, Tennessee to the late Will and Odessa (Thomas) Spivey. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons, five brothers, one sister and a grandchild. She was baptized at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Brownsville. At an early age, she met and married Ivory Taliferro on January 20, 1942. Together they relocated to Decatur, Illinois and united with Northside Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the choir. The couple later settled in Kansas City, Missouri and united with Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop W. H. White. Sister Taliferro departed this earthly life on September 7, 2016. She was loved by many and will be missed by all whose life she touched. She leave to mourn her passing: her daughter, Mae Taliferro of Kansas City, MO; Helen Taliferro, Charles Taliferro (Ida) of Decatur, IL, Wilbert Taliferro of Norton, KS and Jerline Garner of Long Beach, CA; special God-daughter, Joyce Thaxton Decatur, seventeen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, September 16, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
