Raymond G. Jones Jr. passed away Monday, May 22, 20243 at his home.
He was born April 9, 1949, to Raymond G. Jones Sr. and Mary E. Williams in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, daughter Carenda N. Jones, siblings Allen D. Wells, Wilbur Freeman, Teresa Freeman, Sheila Wells, and Sharon Wells.
Raymond was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and attended Central High and Paseo High School. He was formerly married to Veola Brown and Sherine Cochran. He later met Linda Harris and to this union a daughter Carenda Nicole was born, and later with Renee Hishaw giving birth to his son Brian.
He attended House of Heavilin Beauty College, formerly a hair stylist, and sold life insurance for Heritage Lincoln Life Insurance Company prior to starting his career in August 1977 at the Kansas City Claycomo Ford Plant. Raymond retired from Ford with over 30 years of service on February 1, 2009. After retirement he later worked part time at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Raymond accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church September 10, 1989, where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Price Ellis and Harrison Jackson. He would always assist and serve whenever needed and loved flipping pancakes at Sunday morning breakfast.
Raymond loved to play chess, bowl, listen to music, two stepping, motorcycling, traveling, and was a member of Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son: Brian Hishaw; grandchildren Antayza, Lottieana, and Aristotle; a great grandchild Tayzaun Harris; brothers Anthony Overton of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Daniel Jones of Connecticut, Gregory Freeman of Brooklyn, New York, sisters Colleen Asberry of Grandview, Missouri, Diane Stafford Hill of Raytown, Missouri, Sheila Williams of Anniston, Alabama, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
