Obituary

Rebecca Wright, 87, was born August 21, 1930 Sidney and Tisha Calwell. She was the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, J.B. Caldwell, Sidney Caldwell, Jr., Daniel Caldwell and Manuel Caldwell; two sisters Mary Jane Rouse and Macie Roberson; and two children, Robert D. Wright and Milton Wright.

Rebecca was united in holy matrimony to L.C. Wright and nine children were added to this union.

Rebecca confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She loved going to church every Sunday and was a faithful member of Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church until marriage, when she joined New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. She was a very active member serving as church secretary, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, choir member, church mother, and numerous other capacities as needed. In 1988, she moved to Tucson, Arizona and was a caregiver to her son, Robert. She continued her Christian service at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully serving on several committees including the benevolence committee, bereavement committee and as a deaconess and church mother. After the death of her son Robert, Rebecca moved to Kansas City, Missouri where after several years, she became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She actively worked with the Feed the Hunger ministry and helped in the kitchen when needed. She loved Sunday school, especially Class 20.

Rebecca was a loving member in her community. She worked for the Portageville School District as a teacher's aide for fifteen years. She also worked as a Tri-County Home Care aide before moving to Tucson, Arizona. While in Tucson, she continued in community service as a driver for Meals on Wheels. She also worked with a senior citizen community center in any way needed to spread her cheer and goodwill.

Rebecca was a very caring and loving person who spent her time helping others she never met a person who wasn't a friend. She had a sweet spirit and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rebecca quietly went home from labor to reward on July 4, 2018. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: three sons, Kerry L. Wright of St. Louis, MO, Lee C. Wright and Darrin S. Wright (Renee) of Rock Island, IL; four daughters, Shirley Wright Cooper (Robert), Tishia Wright, Mary A.W. Garcia (Fernando) and Isodora Wright (Arron) of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and church family, as well as community friends.
