Obituary

Reginald Dunn, 67, affectionately known as "Sammy D." of Kansas City Missouri, passed away peacefully at the home on September 29, 2020. Reginald was born on May 3, 1956 in Kansas City, MO to the union of James and Lenora Mitchell, who preceded him in death, along with his grandmothers Melvina Jones (maternal), Nellie trotter (paternal) and his great-nephew Tydrian Dunn.

Reginald was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He was educated in the Kansas City Public school District. He graduated in 1974 from Lincoln High School and earned a trade in Culinary Arts. Later he became employed at "Benton Liquors" convenience store where he wore many hats as an employee and was familiar with all.

Reginald accepted Christ at an early age. He loved to cook, clean, and recycle all while listening to his music. He loved spending time with his family, especially with Renee, Dorothy, Adrian and Ebony who he nicknamed "Ten", "Susie", "Abe" and "Lottie" as well as his "LGB4Life" Family! Reginald was and avid sports player and sports fanatic. He loved watching and playing football and baseball. He was a lifelong dedicated fan of both the Kansas City Chiefs and royals. Reginald had a carefree spirit. He loved people and people loved him back. He loved to entertain all he encountered with his humor. Reginald was loved by many close friends, family and extended families.

He leaves behind to cherish memory two sisters; Dorothy Dunn, and Renee Dunn; one brother Colonel Dunn Jr. (Gertrude):; aunts, Luretta Davis of Kansas City, MO., Ernestine Derden, Josephine Lee Jackson of Chicago Illinois; one nephew, Adrian Dunn Sr. (LaDana); one niece, Ebony Dunn (Johnny) all of Kansas City, MO.; great nephews, Adrian Dunn Jr., of Lexington, Kentucky, DeAndre Sherrills Jr. of Kansas City, MO; great nieces Aunasia Dunn, DreShiyon Sherrills of Kansas City, MO.; a special sister his nurse Mrs. Ellen Phillips (Ralph); special nieces, Alice Coppage, Lakisha Brummall, and Tenisha Smith all of Kansas City, MO., and a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment XII Gates Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
