Obituary

Renée Yvonne McGautha, 66, passed away on June 30, 2017 at Research Medical Center. She was born October 23, 1950 to John C. McGautha, Jr. and the late Gertrude L. Strickland in Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Derrick McGautha, Gregory Strickland, Rodney McGautha and Jonathan McGautha; and one sister, Linda Strickland. At an early age, she professed a belief and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a devoted servant on the Usher Board and the President of the Benevolent Committee. She also served as the 2nd Vice-President of the New Era District Ushers. As a lifelong resident, Renée received her formal education in Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Paseo High School in 1968. Renée was an employee for thirty-six years at Rockhurst University and worked up until the time of her death. Renée Yvonne McGautha was a woman with immeasurable strength. She loved her daughters and grandchildren more than anything. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, friend and co-worker who enjoyed giving and helping others, working in the garden with flowers, and 'do-it-yourself' projects in her home. Renée will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Andrea 'Angie' Butler (Troy Sr.) of Lantana, TX and Adrienne McGautha-James of Corinth, TX; her father, John C. McGautha, Jr.; five brothers, Michael Strickland, Keith Strickland, John McGautha III, Vernon McGautha (Juliet) and Christopher Strickland; four sisters, Gina Draper (Marshall), Brenda Strickland, Janet McGautha-Wright (Marcus) and Lisa Strickland; two grandsons, Canaan James and Troy Butler, Jr. (Joy); four granddaughters, Simone' McGautha, Tiffany Butler, Ariana Butler and Sarai James; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, 1:00 p.m. at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church.
