Richard W.
Roberts, Jr.
Jul 10, 1955 — May 2, 2018
Richard Willard Robert, Jr. "Mickey" was born July 10, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio to Richard W. Roberts, Sr. and Charlotte Roberts. His mother preceded him in death.
The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended elementary school and later graduated from Central High School. Richard served his country in the United States Army, Air Force Reserves and Marine Corps. He loved serving his country. As a civilian his most enjoyable employment was as a security guard, and anyone who knew Richard knew basketball was his favorite sport.
Richard received the Lord as his personal savior in his early 20's. He developed a great passion for God's word and evangelism. In 1995, he joined Grace Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Aaron E. Lavender. As a member he served as a greeter, an usher, on the bus ministry, the pastoral staff, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Super Seasoned Saint Ministry. He loved worshipping and fellowshipping with his church family until he was physically unable. As his health continued to decline he looked forward to seeing his Lord. Richard's conversations often centered on cherished memories of his church family, loved ones and friends.
Richard departed this life on May 2, 2018. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Phyllis A. Roberts; one daughter, Shawntale Lively (John); grandchildren, Sheldon Wrightsman, Justin Lively, Christian Lively and Tianna Lively; his father, Richard W. Roberts, Sr. (Charlotte deceased); one sister, Carol Hodison (Pete); two uncles, Samuel (Sally) and Willis Knight (Dee Dee); close nephews and nieces, David Hodison, Steven P. Hodison, Angela Hodison and Taryn Hodison; a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
