Rickey Cal was born on June 03, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee, the second of four children to Priscilla Ruth Cal and Jessie Lee Hayslett.
He moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 6 where he went on to attend school and receive his formal education at Stanford B. Ladd, Martin Luther King, and Central High School, where he graduated with his diploma based on the good advice he received from his Aunt Flossie. He was all smiles that day showing his aunt his accomplishment.
From previous relationships, Rickey had three children, Rikysha Cal, Philippe Lora and Travis Cal. Then he met the love of his life, Arletha Ellis in the early 80s and they later married in June of 1995. Arletha brought with her more children for him to love and call his own, Lanita R. Davis and Marquice Renee Davis.
Rickey joined church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Poe. He then later attended St. Stephen Baptist Church where he was a member attending Sunday Drum and Bugle Corp. At the present time, he was a known and well-respected member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on the security ministry under the leadership of Apostle Larry B. Aiken.
Rickey held various jobs throughout his life in Kansas City, Mo and Chicago, IL. At the time of his departure, he worked at the Touch of Love where he was loved by everyone he cared for. He was very well known throughout the Kansas City area. Everyone he came in contact with knows him as a classy dresser and someone full of life and laughter. He enjoyed two stepping and skating at Rhythm Lanes. His presence will most definitely be missed by all.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Priscilla Cal (Hayslett), father, Jessie Hayslett, Sr., brother, Jessie Hayslett, Jr, sister, Brenda Pearl Hale, his special Aunt Flossie May (Cal) Johnson, his grandparents, Mattie Lee Hayslett/Carl Hayslett, great-grandson, Kieron Karver Davis and cousin, Lee Roy Cal.
