Rita Simmons, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Friday, May 17, 2019 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on December 23, 1953 to the union of Gilbert and Bonnie Simmons in Kansas City, Missouri. Her father along several other family members preceded her in death.

Rita was a lifelong area resident and was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public schools, attending D. A. Holmes Elementary School, Central Junior High and graduating from Central High School in the class of 1971.

Rita attended New Vision Church and later united with Landmark International Deliverance Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop John L. Brown, where she served on the Hospitality Committee. Throughout Rita's life journey she was employed at Best Signs Company, Commercial Union and Allied Insurance Company.

Rita was a home style caterer who had a gift of baking and cooking. She enjoyed cooking for the holidays and spending time with her family. She truly cooked with LOVE!

She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughters, Tara Lynn and Anesha Janeen; son-in-law, Hervia; mother, Bonnie Simmons; two brothers, Gilbert and Kevin; four sisters, Adoria, Gilda, Deidra and Dawn; four grandchildren, Michael, Taishel, Tylon and Tyrane; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, June 1, 11:00 a.m. at Landmark International Church. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
