Robert A.
Wiggins
Dec 23, 1940 — Mar 11, 2020
Robert Arthur Wiggins was born December 23, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Floyd Wiggins, Sr., and Irene Fisher Wiggins. He was one of 10 children and both parents, his brothers Floyd Wiggins, Jr., and Elmer Wiggins has preceded in death.
Robert was educated in the Kansas City School District and graduated from Central High School in 1959. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1959-1962. In 2006 he retired as an employee of the American Railcar Industries repairing and maintaining railroad cars. After his retirement and before his health failed, he began the "Wiggins Lawn Services," that lasted for more than 30 years.
Under the leadership of the Dr. John W. Williams and at an early age Robert accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the St. Stephen Baptist Church. St. Stephen's became the receiver of this dedicated solider of the cross as he became the Chairman of the Deacon Board, President of the Music Ministry, Superintendent of the Adult Department #2 Sunday School Ministry. Never forsaking the task and responsibility of being an usher on the Usher Board and a member of the Finance Committee. His longevity of service in the Lord's house allowed him to know his congregational family and to serve all that came.
In his spare time, the love that Deacon Robert Arthur Wiggins had for his family, was spent cooking, starting water fights at family gatherings, hunting and fishing for the enjoyment of others. He loved animals and had cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, frogs, fish, hamsters and a snake. He also enjoyed collecting items, "your junk, his treasure!" His jovial wit and intelligence kept a light on for others to see, feel and know that God is good! Just as you tasted that tasty barbeque brisket, spaghetti and that "peach cobbler," which flavors will last forever.
As a choir member and vocal leads for the Inspirational Choir, the Male Chorus and lastly the Ecclesiastic Gospel Choir the renderings of "Let God Abide and "King Jesus Will Roll Your Burdens Away," lingers on the ears of those blessed enough to have heard, "King Jesus Will Roll Your Burdens Away":
Robert departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the home.
Robert leaves to treasure his memory, his loving devoted wife of 22 years, Carolyn Wiggins, of the home; children Chandra Edgerson (Steve) of Belton, MO., Edward Doolin, Adrian Doolin (Melissa), Robert T.
