Roderick Harold
Sallard
Dec 15, 1960 — Nov 4, 2016
Roderick Harold Sallard, 56, was born onDecember 15, 1960 to the union of Arthur H. Sallard and Norma Jean (Washington) Young in Chicago, Illinois. His parents; three brothers, Berdell Sallard, Michael Sallard and Kevin Sallard all preceded him in death. Roderick was educated in the Kansas City public schools attending Wendell Phillips Elementary and graduating from Southeast High School in the class of 1979. Roderick was affectionately known as 'Hot Rod' by his family and friends and he truly lived up to that name. Being one of the youngest children, he caused a lot beatings for his other siblings. He thought his parents weren't watching, but he mischievously always got into things. Hot Rod had memorable employment at Kansas City Cold Storage, a job his dad and siblings worked collectively as a family. If you knew Rod, you was aware of his love and devotion with the political realm. He worked long hours to support many State Representatives that he favored and who were running for office. During this recent election campaign, it troubled his heart because he wasn't able to actively share. For many years he would work with Neighborhood Associations and various political parties to make sure the needs of people were heard and brought to the forefront. Hot Rod was always up for the challenge whenever called upon to serve his community. He always had an encouraging message to convey that would uplift your day. Hot Rod was a great thinker. When he started rubbing his head and rocking his legs you knew he was in deep thought. He had unconditional love for his family and he would always affirm his love by calling and saying, 'I Love You'. He will be truly be missed by his siblings, nephews and nieces. Hot Rod departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the home. He leaves to cherish his memory: two brothers, Arthur H. Sallard of Phoenix, AZ and Myron J. Sallard of Kansas City, MO; sister, Norma L. Brown of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
