Obituary

Rodney Radeolu Omodehinde, 31, was born July 29, 1988 at Georgetown Hospital, Washington, D.C. to Darlene Moses Omodehinde and Sonny Omodehinde. He was dedicated to the Lord at First Baptist Church Hyattsville, Maryland, by Pastor Roger Thompson. Rodney moved to Kansas with his family when he was young.

Rodney grew up and attended school in Kansas graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School. Rodney's dream was to pursue a career in graphic/fashion design. He left Kansas City traveling to California and joined groups of skating teams, went to Japan for a tournament and later returned to Kansas City. Rodney was a truck driver for Avenue Thrift, a veteran's donation company in Kansas City, KS. In his spare time he devoted himself to a tight-knit skating community with the vision of promoting others to "Go after their dreams".

Rodney was blessed with a loving family. He was a loving son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed skateboarding, traveling, and going to concerts. Rodney was a people person at heart. He was very outgoing, loved to talk to people, and he made friends very easily. Rodney loved to make people laugh; he lived life to the fullest. His friends affectionately knew him as "Elroy Jetson" or "Sir Rod." Rodney was loved by many, and had a magnetic spirit that drew others near to him. His passing made such as impact on people's lives.

No one who met Rodney soon forgot his infectious laugh, tender hugs, passion for life, and his will to make life better for the people he loved. Though gone, he will never be forgotten. Rodney will be deeply missed by his family, friends, skating community and all who knew him.

Rodney departed this life on October 16, 2019 at Research Medical Center. His mother preceded him in death.

Rodney, the third of four children, leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Sonny Omodehinde of Lenexa, KS, brother Chicago Long, Baltimore, MD, his two sisters; Crystal Omodehinde, Lenexa, KS, Tobi Omodehinde of Los Angeles, CA, his three nieces Ja'miyah, Jada, and Jazmyne of Lenexa, KS and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other friends and relatives residing in the Baltimore/Washington, Kansas/Missouri, and Oklahoma areas.
