Roger Williams, Sr. 61, died on December 23, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospice. He was born on August 19, 1958 to the union of Adge Williams, Jr and Etta L. Williams in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Adge Williams, Jr., one brother , Raymond Williams, paternal grandparents, Adge Williams, Sr. and Maggie Lee, maternal grandparents, Joseph and Lee Etta Kingyon, four uncles, Bert, Freddie and Marion Williams, Lloyd Odell.
Roger was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Westport High School class of 1977. He was employed by Rockhurst College for ten yearsas a maintensnce worker. His most recent position was at Bishop Spencer Place Health Center as the head Bio Science environmental service technican.
Roger was a member of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Kansas, Prudence Lodge #6 F. & A.M. He was an avid stamp collector and he loved to fish. Another one of his hobbies included collecting different species of fish and taking care of them in his massive fish tank. He also loved watching old black and white movies with his grandson, Darius.
Roger accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a kind and generous person with a heart of gold. He leaves to cherish his memory and life forever, his fiancee, Brenda Rhodes of 20 years; five children, Rogers Williams ( Latasha), Rashima Williams Robinson (Michael), Ryan Williams, of Montgomery County, MO Kieona Slaughter and Antonio Douglas, of Kansas City, MO; three stepchildren, Tony Rhodes (Angie), Erica and Carmen Rhodes; mother, Etta L. Williams; three brothers, Ralph Williams (Lynn), Darren R. Williams (Toya) Kansas City, MO and Alvin Williams, St. Joseph, MO; two sisters, Carla D. Williams and Patreece Kirkland (Russell), Raymore, MO; three grandchildren, of Montgomery County, MO, nine grandchildren, of Kansas City, MO; best friend of 25 years, Ronnie Jennings, a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial Brooking Cemetery. Visitation Saturday 1:00pm-2:00pm at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
