Obituary

Rommie Richardson was born in Queen City, Texas to the late Wardell and Idhellia Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lorenzo and Wardell Richardson, sisters Shirley Lightsey and Velma Lewis, and nephews Lynn and Dennis Richardson.

Educated in the Texarkana, Texas public schools, Rommie graduated and continued his education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Carter. The two were united in marriage on August 22, 1965, and shared sixty years of love and devotion. Their union was blessed with two children, Eric and Nichole.

Rommie was employed with the Jackson County Juvenile Court System, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church, serving on the Treasury Board and joyfully singing in the Mass Choir.

A proud season ticket holder for the Kansas City Chiefs, Rommie was passionate about football and could always be found cheering on his team in any weather. He also enjoyed bowling and supporting his beloved alma mater, the Golden Lions of UAPB. Rommie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved traveling and creating lifelong memories with his family. He never missed a moment from school events and scouting to dance classes and fishing trips. Family was his world, and if you called, he was coming.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Barbara Ann (Carter) Richardson of Kansas City, Missouri; children Eric Lynn Richardson and Nichole Danielle Richardson-McArthur, both of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters Odessa (Earl) Parks, Lavannah (Rev. L. B.) George, Lizzie Warren, and Cora Richardson, all of Texarkana, Texas; Velma Lewis of Los Angeles, California; brothers James Edward (Shirley) Richardson of Texarkana, Texas and Harold (Melba) Richardson of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren Erica (Dionte) Peavy, Emerald Richardson, Brittany Richardson, Candice Richardson, Kevis McArthur, and Kevin McArthur, all of the Kansas City area; great-grandchildren Taylon Peavy, Taylor Peavy, Kaylee McArthur, Tristan Barr, Esmeralda Dorsey, Jordan Thomas, Elynn Peavy, Kevis McArthur III, and Karter McArthur.

He also leaves to cherish his in-laws, the Rayfield Family, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends whom he loved deeply.

Rommie's life was a testament to faith, family, and devotion. Though his earthly journey has ended, his love remains woven into the very fabric of his family's story.
