Obituary

Roosevelt Zachery Hicks was born July 27, 1951 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the parents of Cleo Adell Hicks, and Choicie B Ervin (Holly Grove, Ark). He was also raised by his stepmother Joyce Hicks in Kansas City, MO. He proudly joined the United States army as a young man and served in the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by all parents, Grandparents Lula, and Allen Hicks ( Holly Grove, Ark), and siblings Pearlie, Latina, Stacy, Gloria, Laverne, and Darlene. Son: Demetrius Lloyd. Granddaughter: Montenae Hicks.

Roosevelt was wed to Cheryl D. Rainey by the late Rev. Warfus Powell Sr. in 1979. There were 2 children from this union, Roosevelt Hicks Jr, and Rukiya Hicks.

He was employed with the Kansas City Water Department, and Kansas City Park & Recreation. He also owned a home cleaning business in the 1990's to early 2000'. He had a passion for doing yard work and taking care of plants and flowers. He also enjoyed working on cars and was a handyman. One of his favorite hobbies was bowling, he bowled in multiple leagues and the 70's and 80's. He was a believer in Christ.

Roosevelt loved being there in every way, for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Everyone knows his top priority was his great grandsons, Deondre, and Montrell! He called them every day, before and after school, and before bedtime each night. Even in declining health, he rarely missed a birthday or family gathering. He was a friend and a helpmate to all. He touched many people's lives and will be greatly missed by all!

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons: Roosevelt Hicks Jr, Terry Lloyd, and Keith McAllister (Kansas City, MO); daughters Rukiya Hicks (Kansas City, MO), and Kawanaa Broadus (Vicksburg, MS), brothers; Ricardo (Kansas City, MO), Roger, Robert, and Troy (Holly Grove, AR); sisters, Carla (N. Little Rock, AR), Mary, Brenda (Holly Grove, AR), and LaJun (Milwaukee, WI), grandchildren; Aireyonna, Kero, Rukiya, Nakiya, Rashaad, Monesha, Monise, Karlos, Markell, Travell (Kansas City, MO), Kiwanee, Kazminyunaa, Koruanna (Vicksburg, MS, Great grandchildren: Deondre, and Montrell (Kansas City, MO).
