Rosa Mae Whitted, 73, KCMO, answered the Master's call on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. She was born November 17, 1942 in Plumerville, Arkansas to Edward McDaniel and Mildred Lambert McDaniel. Her parents; son, Darrell 'GPaw' Whitted; grandson, LeAunte Brown-Whitted; two sisters, Margaret Everette and Edna Byers, and one stepbrother, Sam McDaniel all preceded her in death. Rosa was educated in the public schools of Plumerville, Arkansas and Salina, Kansas. She relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where she made her home for over sixty years. She was a unit secretary at St. Luke's Hospital for many years until she parted in 1987. Rosa was united in marriage to Frank J. Whitted, Jr., who also preceded her in death. Rosa Mae confessed a hope in Christ and became a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of the late Rev. Earl Abel, and continued under the leadership of Rev. Leonard P. Butler, Jr. Sister Rosa loved the Lord and oh how she loved to sing praises unto her God. She served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir, the Inspirational Choir and the Mass Choir. She was also a Den Mother and served on the Usher Board Sister Rosa enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had a hand raising many of her grandchildren, as well as her nephews and nieces. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She will now join that heavenly choir where she will sing and never get tired! She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Orlando Whitted, Edwin Whitted and Thurston Whitted, all of Kansas City, MO; two step sons, David Whitted and Gordon Whitted, both of Atlanta, GA; one stepdaughter, Gail Francis of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Norma Jean McDaniel-Garmon of Markham, IL; special niece/like daughter, Karen Byers-Jones; goddaughter, Robin Rhoades; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family. Funeral services will be Friday, August 19, 10:30 a.m. at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors, Condolences may be shared on our website.
