Mother Rose Lee"Hundley" Smith the second daughter of ten by the late Bishop Issac Harrison & Elizabeth Finney Hundley. She was born on
November 30, 1928 yet anyone who knew her knows that she loved to celebrate on December 1st. She was born in the Mississippi Delta in
Anguilla, MS. She was blessed to give birth to seven beautiful children. She went home to glory to be with the Lord on March 30, 2020, approximately 9:30 a.m. pronounced, 10:12 a.m. in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lafayette Smith, a loving son, Donald Bishop, two sisters, Ernestine Whittington and Martha Zewalk, three brothers, Jake, Curtis and Clinton Hundley, tow grandsons, Manuel Lars, Rodney Richardson.
Mother Rose Lee was the daughter of a powerful Bishop whom became the pastor of the Church of God in Hollandale, MS.
He was also selected as the First Bishop of the Church of God providing leadership for churches located in Jack., MS, Medon, TN., Harvey, IL., Flint, MI and Lawrence, KS source://hundleyfamily.myevent.com) She was raised in the church. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age. She valued her spirituality and salvation. Everywhere she went she represented Christ and wanted to make sure every soul was saved.
Mother Rose Lee was blessed to be a first lady at her church Glory Temple in the union with the late Lafayette Smith. She was blessed to serve on the mother board as the Kansas State Supervisor. She was an evangelist and a powerful Missionary. She loved to song & play the tambourine to throw off the enemy. No matter her situations she faced she always gave God the glory coming and going.
Mother Rose Lee was a very hard worker, working at Peterson Manufacturing, Home Health Aide and as a professional baker at Tippin's. She was into Real Estate owning several homes over the years up until her retirement she had loved to cook/ bake, hosting family Thanksgiving dinner. She loved to clean the silver and set out fine china for loved ones to eat on.
It was until she was about sixty, she said," I've been cooking all my life, I'm only eating out from here on out." She did just that, eating out for lunch and dinner with Lafayette.
Mother Rosa Lee leaves to honor, cherish and respect her legacy: two sons, William Parker, Jr. and George Morris, Jr.; four daughters, Mary E. Harvey (Roscoe), Patricia A. Parker and Vernice R. Harris (Ben);two brothers, John Hundley, Sr. (Millie),Gloster Allen-Hundley (Mother Ethel); two sisters, Mother Dorothy Marshall and Mother Shirley Stokes; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; six great-great children; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other family and friends.
Graveside services Monday, April 6, 2020, 1:30 p.m Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
