Obituary

Roy Hampton, 79, entered his earthly life on June 19, 1940. He departed his earthly life on November 30, 2019. He was born in Waldo, Arkansas to the union of Burl and Elmira Hampton. His parents; two brothers, Raymond and Bobby Joe; and one sister, Dorothy Jean preceded him in death.

Roy graduated from LTC Training High School, class of 1958 in Stamps, Arkansas. He later moved to the Kansas City area where he made his home for over fifty years. He was employed by Midland Lithographing Company, until he retired. In September of 1966, Roy met and married Joan Feimster, bringing to this union three sons.

Roy attended Mariah Walker AME Church. He was an avid sports fan and loved going to the casino. He also enjoyed traveling to see his family and attending his high school class reunions.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 53 years, Joan Hampton; three sons, John Shirley, Nathan Shirley, and Glenn Nixon; one brother, Burl Hampton of Fort Worth, TX; two sisters, Norma Jean Biddle and Betty Ann Lusk, both of Fort Worth, TX; God-daughter, Dr. Shelly L. Mathewis of Fort Worth, TX; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, December 7, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
