Obituary

Ruby Bullock, 86, KCMO, was called home October 15, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House. She was born in Bearden, Arkansas on October 29, 1930 to the loving union of Andrew Thrower and Gussie Rideout-Thrower. Both parents; two daughters Nadine White and Mary Josephine Bullock; brother, Evern Thrower, Sr. and John R. Bullock preceded her in death.

Ruby was raised in Murfreesboro, Arkansas and graduated from Nashville High School. She married John R. Bullock in 1949 and moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1950. To that union eight children were born.

Ruby worked at Booker T. Washington Grade school and it was there she met Elizabeth Rhodes, her loving God Child. Ruby went on to work in the nursing field at St. Luke's Hospital and retired after thirty-eight years of service, from which she received several awards. Ruby had a love of sports and worked for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals for over twenty years. She also worked as a supervisor at the K.C. Election Board.

Ruby had a love for life with an infectious smile that warmed the hearts of many. She was very kind and soft spoken with a strong will. She loved cooking holiday meals with all the trimmings. She also loved traveling and being with family and friends. Ruby looked forward to traveling to see her beloved sister Allie Mae Wesson and family in Nashville, Arkansas each year. She was blessed to be graced with a wonderful extended family by her side, Ms. Lena Dedmon and the Albritton clan. She fought a good fight and ran a good race; she finished her race with joy and she will forever be with the Lord.

She is survived and sadly missed by John W. Bullock, James D. Bullock (Pearl), Norris White, Andrew W. Bullock, Alvin Bullock, Patricia A. Badejo, Kathy Williams (Willie Ray), DeWayne Horn, Jr. and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
