Ruby Dean Griffin, 74, was born October 27, 1942 to Jesse and Ollie Mae (Holland) Hamilton in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest T. Griffin; brothers, Robert McNeil and George A. Hamilton; daughter, Christine Y. Griffin; and stepdaughters, Faye Ruff and Lily Hurd. As a lifelong area resident, she was educated in the public schools of Kansas City and attended R.T. Cole High School, later known as Lincoln High School. Ruby met and married her husband of 34 years, Mr. Ernest T. Griffin on December 23, 1963. To this union five children were born, Ernest, Catherine, Emmitt, Shirley and Christine. Ruby confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Greater Corinthian Church in the late 1980's. She later united with House of Refuge under the leadership of Pastor Cleveland Drone, Sr., where she served on the Mother's Board until her passing. Ruby departed this earthly life on August 23, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital East. She will be sorely missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Ernest M. Griffin (Jackie), Catherine R. Griffin, Emmitt M. Griffin (Sherry) and Shirley L. Griffin-Hightower all of KCMO; two stepdaughters, Gloria Jean Gant and Bertha Cornelius both of KCMO; 30 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services Friday, September 1, 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E.
