Obituary

On Wednesday, July 16, 1930, Pink and Mable Fany welcomed their last child, a beautiful baby girl, into the family. Ruth joined her older sisters, Emma Jean and Yunnita, completing their St. Louis, Missouri home with peace, love, and joy. When Ruth answered the Lord's call on Sunday, August 18, 2024, she reunited their family unit once again.

After graduating from school in St. Louis, Ruth and the Fant family moved to Olathe, Kansas, in the mid-1950s, with her only son, Ronnie, in tow.

Ruth understood the word of God, II Thessalonians 3:10, which declares, "If any would not work, neither should he eat," and thus, she was a hard worker. Ruth held various positions in the greater Kansas City area. She was employed at a luggage company, Mammoth Insurance Company, and in 1971, received an award from the National Insurance Association, where she worked as a debt manager. Additionally, Ruth worked at Atlanta Life Insurance, Marion Labs, Construction Market Data, and Cable Dahmer Chevrolet. In the early 1960s, Ruth met Leonard Veneable, and the two were married. This union was later dissolved.

Ruth was a member of the Gollyette's Club in Kansas City, a group of women who supported each other and enjoyed life. Known for being sassy, very confident, assured, and an impeccable dresser, Ruth made the most of the life she was given. Until the end, she enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, traveling, and being with family and friends. At her last birthday party, when someone remarked how beautiful Ruth "was" in a picture, Ruth responded, "I'm still beautiful!"

Ruth had a personal relationship with the Lord and served at Allen Chapel AME as an usher.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, her son Ronnie Granger; Oggerita Weaver; grandchildren Kelvin Veneable and Larisha Veneable; great-grandchildren Meliyah, Kael, Amalya, and Julia; nieces Grace Jordan, Deborah Hamilton (Charles), Denise Norman (Johnny); and a host of other relatives and friends.
