Sam Brown, 70, passed away on September 11, 2018 at the home. He was born January 18, 1948 to the union of Sanders and Magnolia (Bones) Brown in Holly Grove, Arkansas. His parents and one brother, John H. Brown, Sr., preceded him in death.

Sam accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Sam was educated in the Holly Grove public schools. He furthered his education at the University of Arkansas A.M.&N. in Pine Bluff.

Sam was a United States Army veteran and while in the service he served as a military police officer. After the army, Sam relocated to the Kansas City area, where he made his home for over forty-eight years. He was a correctional officer at Jackson County for twenty years and later became employed as a mail clerk at St. Luke's Hospital.

Sam was united in marriage to the former Loretta Jackman, and to this union one son was born. He was a loving father, brother, and uncle known for his amazing memory and sense of humor. Sam will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Dwayne Dean Brown, Columbia, MO; three brothers, Paul E. Brown, Los Angeles, CA, Baidie C. Brown, Lee's Summit, MO and Rev. Roy L. Brown, Little Rock, AR; four sisters, Erma J. Nelson, Livingston, AL, Velma McCullough (Thomas), Belton, MO, Sandra R. Christian, Highland, CA and Evelyn Ledford (Gerald), Conyers, GA; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
