Sandra Jean (Davis) Thompson, 57, was born August 30, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri to McLawrence and Catherine Brown. Sandra confessed her belief and faith in Christ Jesus at an early age. She gave her life to the Lord and joined Spruce St. Matthew Baptist Church. While attending Spruce, Sandra was a loyal and devoted Pastor's Aide, she also served on the Health Unit and Usher Board. Sandra was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public schools where she graduated from Central High School in 1977. She was employed as a Dining Supervisor at the University of Missouri - Kansas City campus for 35 years. She married James Thompson Sr. and to this union her only son, James Thompson Jr. was born. Sandra went home to be with Lord on Monday, July 18, 2016 after a courageous six year battle; where she fought a good fight and she kept the faith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, James Thompson, Jr. and daughter, Angie Simpson (James); parents, McLawrence and Catherine Brown; brothers, Stanley Brown, McLawrence Brown III (Robin), Wendell Johnson and Richard Lowe; sisters, Amanda Davis, Carolyn Robinson (Steve), Maxine Brown, Louvenia Carroll (Pastor Mike), Cynthia Vroils, Jackie Johnson and Tracy Campbell (Billy); granddaughters, Taelor Thompson and Taliyah Thompson; uncles, Godfrey Davis (Louise), Dewayne Davis, Tyrone Davis (Linda), Johnny Davis (Annette) and Marland Brown (Judy); aunts, Betty Wright, Joyce McCombs (John), Mary Wright (Steve), LoEsther Brown and Sadie Shelby; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 23, 11:00 a.m.at Spruce St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
